Rebuild & Regenerate
As we turn the page and start the new year, we thank you for your overwhelming support and solidarity. Thanks to you, our leaders were able to respond courageously to the overlapping challenges of 2021, and the video below provides a snapshot of what’s been accomplished. Thank you for investing in a local vision for a community that is resilient & strong, from the inside out.
What Comes Next
Construction of a secondary school and staff residence on the grounds of St. Paul’s School, our partner in Pre-K through 12th grade education, is well underway, and scheduled to be complete by early March. See photos of progress here and learn more about the plan here.
Reinforcement of structures and relationships at the local clinic in Petit Trou de Nippes. At present we are supporting the work of 40 community health workers, three mobile health clinics per month, and dedicated support and training from a Haitian doctor and psychologist, Dr Vanessa. We’re working closely with leadership at the clinic to determine the best way to support physical structures and will share more information as soon as possible.
In agriculture and food security, we are increasing investments in beekeeping, demonstration farms, solar irrigation and high yield fruit trees. Each of these initiatives produces impacts not only in nutrition, but in livelihood and economic development.
In Girls’ Empowerment, your support is funding salaries for local mentors, girl-centered after school programs, community-wide activities focused on equal rights, and women-led economic empowerment programs such as soap production and community savings banks.
With support from the Episcopal Church, we have secured seed funding to enhance our work in conservation, including community-based efforts in support of mangrove conservation, tree planting, and green jobs.
Learn About Earthquake Response
We continue to support earthquake response in the community, transitioning from emergency relief to longer term rebuilding.
