Welcome to Locally Haiti

A Note about our new name

After years of discernment and a series of more recent dialogues in Colorado and in Haiti, the Colorado Haiti Project has officially changed its name to Locally Haiti! Please be sure to scroll all the way down this page to see a video featuring remarks from our founders and multiple generations of CHP leadership. Their engagement and support has been crucial in this process. In addition, at the bottom of this page you’ll find a form where you can share comments or questions. We would love to hear from you!

Why the change?

Local leadership is at the core of what we do, and this has been true for many years. We feel it's important our name reflects that. Too often, particularly in Haiti, the talented leaders, innovators, parents, families, and farmers who make real progress possible are left on the sidelines of their own stories. This name change highlights a holistic approach that not only invests in these leaders, but also seeks to amplify their voices and recognize their proper role as protagonists in their own stories.

What is not changing?

  • What we do and what we believe. Our mission is the same - to advocate for and invest in the vision of our partner communities in Petit Trou.

  • Our relationship with St. Paul’s School. While we continue to support off-campus initiatives in agriculture, health, and girls’ empowerment, St. Paul’s School remains our foundational partner.

  • Our productive and continuing partnership with the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado and the Episcopal Church in Haiti remains fundamental to our work. Please see here for a reflection from our director, Wynn, as shared with the Church in Colorado.

  • Our commitment to running a lean operation here in the U.S. While you’ll no longer find Colorado in our name, it’s still our home base and we have no plans to change that! In addition, all (minimal) costs of this switch have been covered by one individual donor.

Administrative details:

  • We have the same Tax ID #, 84-1330243. We are the same organization, with the same mission, same by-laws, same mailing address, same Board of Directors, same leadership, same heart for and devotion to our partners in Petit Trou. Checks made out to CHP will still be good because that is still a legal name of our nonprofit corporation (in addition to Locally Haiti.) That said, we’ll be using Locally Haiti in all of our communications (emails, print, website, social media) effective immediately.
