New Pics from Haiti + Matching Opportunity!
We’re thrilled to announce that a generous donor has stepped up to offer a $75,000 match for all gifts from now to the end of the year. The hospital build is complete, but there is so much more we can do to help local leaders confront increasing need if we can meet this match together and end the year strong.
Please see below for updates in education, agriculture, and girls’ empowerment, and see here for our year-end video, narrated by Program Coordinator Johnny Verneus, in case you missed it!
Education
St. Paul’s School is bursting at the seams, now serving 698 students. We've increased support to help cover this influx of new students, and we are hoping to make important infrastructure improvements later this year to help house additional classrooms. We are also providing 15 higher education scholarships thanks to a partnership with Episcopal Relief & Development!
Girls’ Empowerment
Girls’ Empowerment Clubs at St. Paul’s School are growing, with mentors reporting that these activities are more important than ever as the influx of new students from Port-au-Prince integrate into the existing school culture.
Agriculture & Food Security
We’ve hired an additional agronomist at St. Paul’s School, and we’re also preparing to plant the food and healing gardens at the new hospital site. Below you’ll find a pic from St. Paul’s Garden and a pic from when local leaders visited the botanic gardens in Les Cayes recently to continue planning for gardens on the hospital site. We’ll share initial pics of planting with you soon!
Community Health
We are working closely with the Ministry of Health in preparation for the hospital inauguration. We look forward to sharing the date with you soon!
As always, thank you for your support and solidarity - please know it is making a very real difference for leaders and families in Petit Trou.
