Good News from Haiti + Holiday News & Notes

Wynn Walent, Executive Director

Dear Friends,

The subject line of this email is in no way intended to minimize the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Port-au-Prince. It is heartbreaking, tragic, and sad beyond words.

And it is also true that our leaders in Petit Trou are pushing forward, making remarkable progress, and supporting refugees fleeing the violence of Port-au-Prince. We celebrate their work and we honor their commitment and compassion.

As you can see above, and here, the new hospital is complete. This is a remarkable step at a time the community is growing rapidly. We are taking final steps to equip the facility and to begin planting food and nutrition gardens on site, and we hope to announce an inauguration date soon. This has only been possible thanks to your generosity. Thank you.

In other news, St. Paul’s School is now providing education to 693 students. Enrollment grows daily as families leave Port-au-Prince for the relative safety and stability of the countryside, and we’ve increased our financial support to help St. Paul’s receive this influx. We are also funding reinforcement of food security and garden programs on site. Thank you for continuing to support our friends and leaders there.
